SEMINARS ON THE NEW B-BBEE CODES

The Department of Trade and Industry has now finalised and released the revised B-BBEE Codes of Good Practice (The Final BEE codes).

There are many changes, amongst others:

• The seven elements of the old BEE scorecard has been reduced to five elements;

• There are three priority elements: Ownership, Skills Development and Enterprise and Supplier Development;

• The ceiling for EME entities has been lifted from R5 to R10m and for QSE’s from R35 to R50m;

• If you are a 100% Black owned EME or QSE you automatically get a level 1;

• QSE’s must comply with all 5 elements;

• The B-BBEE recognition levels have changed.

The new Generic Scorecard is set out below:

• Ownership 25 points

• Management Control 15 points

• Skills Development 20 points

• Enterprise & Supplier Development 40 points

• Socio-Economic Development 5 points

Further aspects include:
• We do not yet have clarity on the QSE scorecard as this has not yet been released;

• We do not yet have clarity on the process with regards to the Sector Codes and will update clients as soon as more notices are released.

We will be holding updates on these New Codes in November 2013, where we will give an overview and will discuss the principles of the codes.
